A young little girl with an adorable smile walks with her schoolmates in an amusement park. She is playing skipping with her friends but suddenly her smile disappears. Her eyes are fixed at other children relishing scoops of chocolate ice creams on a cone. Tears roll down her cheeks and her Mommy’s words start echoing in her ears. She can’t have anything sweet as she is suffering from the deadly disease of Diabetes and has to take a shot of Insulin daily.
Shocking, isn’t it? As a matter of fact 78,000 children develop diabetes every year. According to the International Diabetes Federation, 61.3 million people in India had diabetes in the year 2011 and the number is expected to rise to 101.2 million by 2030. India also ranks second in the world after China in Diabetes prevalence.
In such a scenario, Diabeto can be used in self-monitoring and keeping the blood sugar under control. No it isn’t another Glucometer but is something way beyond it! It won’t kill the disease but will definitely help in its effective management for a better life.
Diabeto is a non-intrusive Bluetooth powered hardware device which enables the transfer of Glucose readings from Glucometer into a Smartphone. It’s a combination of hardware and an Android app that helps patients to manage their diabetic records. The Bluetooth device can be connected into a Glucometer and then the data can be wirelessly transmitted to the mobile. The readings can then be analysed with the help of an Android application and where you can analyse sugar shifts, history and even email the graph to your Diabetologist to understand your health progress.
With Smartphones available at cheap rates, more and more people are opting for them over feature phones and this increases the scope of Diabeto. What can be better than managing your health and keeping Diabetes in track with just a single tap on the screen! This is a perfect solution for those people who are always on the go and don’t usually have time to maintain a physical logbook and concentrate on improvising their health.
