That is where platforms like Eureka! 13 come in as they provide assistance to innumerable young minds to succeed in their endeavours by avoiding certain mistakes and emphasizing on new directions to confront intimidating odds in the future.

Founded in 2002, The Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay (E-Cell) strives to motivate the youth toward entrepreneurship and also makes efforts to provide them with the necessary resources to do so. It has been recognized as the Leading Entrepreneurship Promoting Student Organization in the country by the “National Entrepreneurship Network Achievement Awards” instituted by the Wadhwani Foundation and was felicitated at TiECon 2005.

Eureka! is an initiative by E-cell that is aimed at encouraging people from all around the world to exhibit their talents and leadership qualities on a global platform. The 5 month competition has been acclaimed as “Asia’s Largest Business Plan Competition” by Thomson Reuters in 2010. It is not only a platform for potentially profitable ideas and early stage startups but is also recognised as a platform for intensive learning of the entrepreneurial ecosystem by interactions and mentorship from the leaders of this field. Around 50 teams compete for INR 50,000, in a competition which sees over 5000 entries competing for prizes worth INR 4 Million with excellent networking opportunities in India and the Silicon Valley. Eureka! provides participants with insights to comprehend their own business from multiple perspectives and they receive extensive mentoring, which enables them to refine their b-plan multiple times during the competition cycle. Some of the competition’s past mentors and judges include Satish Kataria (M.D., SpringBoard Ventures), V.S.S. Mani (Founder of Justdial), Paul Basil (Founder & CEO, Villgro), Sasha Mirchandani (Co-Founder, Mumbai Angels)

What’s in store for this year?

Eureka! is back this year with some eye-popping learning and earning opportunities for budding entrepreneurs. Some of them include:

1. Talented participants can win prizes worth Rs. 4.5 million.

2. Mentoring by industry experts, faculty members and seasoned entrepreneurs.

3. Invaluable feedback opportunities from world class entrepreneurs, investors, and professional service providers.

4. Participants will be able to network with potential partners, freelancers, investors and world class entrepreneurs which will help them to broaden their horizons.

5. Participants will also chance to exhibit their talents and pitch their plans in front of leading angel investors, venture capitalists and industrialists from reputed firms like Mumbai Angels, TiE, India Nivesh, GrowVC among many others.

This year, the portal for filling entries closes on 3rd October. After that, semi-finalists will be selected by judging through Eureka’s vast panel of judges and then the semi-finalists will be provided mentors online. Also, this year an offline meet between mentors and mentees will be organised at IIT Bombay in the month of December. The final pitching will take place at E-Summit (The annual flagship event of Eureka!) from 1st-2nd February.
