One evening, two CEOs met at a business meeting – one from India’s most coveted Hindi General Entertainment Channel and the other from a leading Indian communications agency. As they spoke, the conversation veered towards CEOs and how their lives revolve around work and meetings. And thus, began a round of discussions between different stakeholders as the thought germinated into something much more powerful. That moment marked the birth of CEO’s Got Talent—a brainchild of Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors and Prema Sagar, Principal and Founder, Genesis Burson-Marsteller and Founder Trustee, Genesis Foundation.

Genesis Foundation has always looked at newer avenues to engage with audiences across the country. CEO’s Got Talent was a first-of-its-kind event platform created by franchise owner FremantleMedia India under the ‘Got Talent’ franchise, proceeds of which went to Genesis Foundation. 12 senior leaders of India Inc. battled it out on a fun-filled evening showcasing their talent. The show was judged by a distinguished panel of jury members, including renowned actor Raveena Tandon, celebrated director-producer Mahesh Bhatt and Raj Nayak, CEO – COLORS. The on-ground event took place on the 7th of March in Mumbai and was broadcasted on CNBC TV18 on 29th and 30th March 2014.

The winners of the show were, Mr. Atul Khatri, CEO of Kaytek Computers, first runner up Mr. PankajChaturvedi, CEO of Rich Graviss Products Pvt. And second runner up Mr. David Fischer, current Chairman of Xlantic Group. Here’s what each one had to say about their experience of being on the show.

Atul Khatri, CEO of Kaytek Computers

Passion: Standup comedy

“I’d wish I knew that CEO stands for Chief Everything Officer in a small business which I run. You are ‘ALWAYS ON’ 365 x 24 x 7 to your customers, employees & the countless tax authorities. The pressure and responsibility of not only the employees but their families too on you is overwhelming. We live one life. Go explore your passion before it’s too late. In fact it’s never too late. You want to become a body painter, a pole dancer, open your own VadaPav stall or even get out of your car on Ganesh Visarjan day and do a full tapori dance performance  with some random people on the street  – Go ahead and do it! Never regret later on that you couldn’t do it because you will only have yourself to blame. Finally will like to end on a filmy dialogue –  Kehte hai agar kissi cheez ko dil se chaaho toh poori kainat tumhe use milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.”

Pankaj Chaturvedi: CEO of Rich Graviss Products Pvt. Ltd.

Passion: Singing

The singing sensation was quoted saying; “I always wish to respect the gift of melody that I have been bequeathed with. There have been times when giving sufficient time to singing has been difficult, but I never thought of giving up my dream.  As I said, our dreams are what describe us as a person. It is very important to follow our heart and pay reverence to our talent. Keep your goals clear and just follow the path that you think will lead towards them.”

David Fischer:Current Chairman of Xlantic Group

Passion: Rock Music

The second runner up at the CEO’s Got Talent shared a few words of wisdom “Remember to try to create the time for at least one hobby outside your main business. Most CEOs are workaholics, and I suffer from the same addiction.  So if you can harness that drive and apply it to an area of interest outside of work, do so.  Also, more importantly, if you can use your talent to help causes that you believe in, it will give you a greater sense of satisfaction and open your mind in a way that complements your business activity.”
