They claim to ensure service levels which will pleasantly surprise you.

We got in a conversation with Nishant and here’s a sneak peek of what he has to say about the idea behind the startup and what’s in store for the future.

Tell us a bit about your background and the path that ultimately led you towards 100Krafts.

Ravi Roshan is an engineering graduate from VTU and has been engaged with the IT Industry for over a decade in Business Development across Domestic and International Markets before venturing out with 100Krafts. He has been associated with IBM, ITC Infotech and numerous startups.

I on the other hand have been engaged in FMCG sector in the field of Sales and Marketing for companies like Britannia & ITC for over 6 years before becoming a serial entrepreneur. I’ve done my MBA from XIM, Bhubaneswar.

How does it differentiate from other such platforms that cater to interior needs of customers?

100Krafts is trying to create a platform to not only integrate the highly confusing and fragmented Interiors industry but also to create a knowledge base for our customers who can otherwise end up getting duped easily by thugs who are rampant in this industry.

The motto of 100Krafts is to bring a satisfactory and contented experience at a reasonable cost, while carving a home out of your four walls. Our sincerity and ethical standards are what differentiate us from others and we are happy to report that all our current and previous customers will vouch for us. 100Krafts is possibly the only one such platform where a sizeable number of stakeholders of this industry join together under one umbrella. 

What has proved to be the biggest challenge for you on your entrepreneurial journey?

A major hurdle that we face is alerting the customers on time about the risks involved in going ahead with an Interior Designer / contractor. In this industry, it is easy to fleece customers. For example, plywood comes at rates starting from Rs.50 per sq.ft to Rs.250 per sq.ft and above. The problem is that one cannot differentiate just by looking.

We ensure quality material is being used as promised before the start of a project. Similarly, while an Interior Designer may claim a certain timeline, cost and time over-runs are common and result in frustration and budget over-runs for the customer. 100Krafts ensures such problems are minimized. We make customers understand this before they actually face the problem. It is the biggest hurdle since we cannot do anything later once the customer selects an Interior Designer not certified by 100Krafts.

What is the hardest part about your job?

Job? What job? This is a lifestyle and we love it! Hardest part of this lifestyle will possibly be spending weekends in meetings with customers since that is when they are usually available. We do not get any weekends free.

What is one mistake you’ve made, and what did you learn from it?

The funny thing is that after one year, we are still making a lot of mistakes and learning from them!

Who would you say is your biggest competitor?

We will call the mindsets of the people our biggest competitor. In our country, “service” is highly underestimated by vendors and overestimated by customers. People always feel that they need to pay through their nose for a good service. This is the biggest problem that we face when we have to convince people that rates of Interior Designers / Contractors coming through 100Krafts will be better not just when compared one-on-one but also when seen in the long run due to the service levels offered by 100Krafts.

Do you have any new features in the pipeline?

Yes we do. We are currently in the process of remodeling our website to cater to these new features. These include things like a full range of home decor items, design services etc. We will prefer not to talk about them in detail at present. We also intend to create user experiences on our website which are currently absent anywhere in the world but can greatly enhance the way people go about getting their interiors done.

What one piece of advice would you give to soon to be startup founders?

Be prepared for some very hard and smart work and be flexible and patient. A lot of things that we foresee do not happen or take too long. Be ready and enjoy the journey!
