Youth4work is a platform that ranks the talents of youth after analyzing them to help them find jobs which are apparently most suitable for them. In other words, it helps talented professionals to connect with companies and increase their chances of employability. Youth4work has assisted 1, 75,000 students till now and is strongly linked with students from some of the most reputed colleges like Delhi University, IGNOU, Gemological Institute of America, Sikkim Manipal University, etc.

Many employers hire via a job posting. For example, if you are looking for a content writer in Mumbai, you will post a job on a website which will give you around 1000 resumes and then you will spend hours in scanning those resumes and filter out those you find inappropriate. In the end, the selected candidates will be called for an interview. However, the top priority in every employer’s mind is- ‘I want to know the top 100 content writers looking for a job in Mumbai.’ That is the only information they need. If you are an employer, you just need somebody to tell you that the candidate’s quality of work meets a certain required standard. That is where Youth4work comes into action.

For an employer, the platform has a talent board section where companies can find top 100 candidates in a particular city and just send them a mail. These candidates are easily contactable and Youth4work charges companies for sending them  mails. The system tests the candidates, ranks them and profiles them based on their talents. This process cuts the entire intricate screening process and saves time as the online portal has already screened and tested them.

For a job seeker, it’s more interesting as they are profiled and ranked for their skills. A candidate gets profiled for his/her real talents and it doesn’t really matter what courses they have pursued. If a candidate is currently into Engineering but is interested in Content writing, he can still get a job in that field. So ultimately candidates get a job based on the things they love and not the degrees they have.

Rachit Jain founded Youth4work alone, got a freelancer for initial development then hired 2 guys in the initial months. Today they have a strong team working full time and is equally passionate about Youth4work. During his engineering days, Rachit got selected in Mahindra but he noticed that many did not get a job based on the skills or the interest they had. Some companies pick up candidates and place them in different departments, without any clue about their real talents.

Advertising in newspapers and websites is becoming obsolete as people are expecting some kind of intelligence to step in the entire recruitment process.

For ranking the candidates, the platform follows the following steps:

  • If you are registering on the site, you will categorize yourself into the talents you posses. For ex: You may select content writing.

  • The next step is a test which is somewhat like a GMAT algorithm. The scoring system that they have created is like a GMAT score which identifies the real talent, the questions are crowd sourced and the test is completely intelligent where each question’s level and difficulty changes with each attempt on it. It’s a patented algorithm.

  • Then there is a freelance work that happens on the site through which you can earn money from the employers.

  • The last step is the activeness of your job search on the site.

Rachit wants to see Youth4work beating Naukri.com and competing with LinkedIn in the next 5 years. “We are the next evolution of recruitment and have already beaten most of the startups in our space as we have more traffic, more engagement with 1.4 million page views.” said Rachit.

It is a self funded business as of now but they plan to consider funding that would have long term beneficial effects on the company. Rachit believes that entrepreneurship is a long journey and reaching the final destination always takes time so one shouldn’t stick to Excel or PPT and be prepared to keep updating plans as per the situations.

The global unemployment rate which was 12.4 per cent in 2012 has increased to 12.6 per cent in 2013. Secure jobs were once the norm for previous generations but today have become inaccessible for the youth. Students do not find relevant jobs after passing out and are compelled to take up part-time jobs or find themselves stuck in temporary employment. Universities and Colleges should start internship programs and provide students with pertinent work experience to create a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical experience. In such cases, Youth4work can let struggling youngsters heave a sigh of relief by helping them connect with companies and boost their morale by providing career enhancing opportunities.
