Let’s say you are looking for the trending picture on football. Type football in the search box and voila you have the latest picture. To receive regular updates, you just need to click on the follow button. They also have a feature that has a list of the current trending topics on Twitter and Instagram.

The name Refractify has a very scientific explanation behind its meaning. It means the refraction of light which brings us the colours we see with our eyes otherwise we see a bright white light which is a mix of red, green and blue.

“I have been with small to mid size IT companies for the last 7 years helping them build cutting edge products. But that was mostly for a living. I always had a passion for doing a startup. And I liked pictures a lot and though my photography skills are limited, I have always made time to watch out for awesome pictures shared by many photographers on the web. So I thought I’ll pursue my passion for both loving pictures and startup together and started Refractify, which brings pictures from Twitter and Instagram together and presents on an awesome wall.” said Balachandra Maddina, Founder, Refractify.

“Being a single founder, the major challenge is to keep myself motivated all time. I mean, once you approach people for feedback, you get to hear all sorts of things starting from, “I think this is already there” to “how this is not a market.” So effectively one needs a continuous self motivation. I follow an approach of constant learning. Every time I receive a feedback I work on validating it as a part of learning.” He added.

Bala’s love for pictures has been his constant motivation. His love for amazing pictures got him this far with Refractify. Being a single founder has been a tough job for him and hence he is always on the lookout for the right people to work with. He likes working with people that are just as curious about the world as he is. He would love to make an awesome team of such like-minded people.
Refractify has received good feedback from a lot of people; however, Balachandra feels he is yet to see the growth in his startup. Every time he receives a feedback, he takes it positively and uses it as a step to learn more and enhance his startup.

The next feature they wish to come up with is a better engagement model for users. They plan to enhance user’s interactions with pictures and also help them connect better.

“I think a mobile first approach would help a lot. So think about mobile first before you start and keep it simple.” advices Balachandra.
