At mYwindow, you follow your passion and not people. You can add your Awards, Videos, Interviews, Ted talk, Blogs or Speeches, Bibliography as you are your most authentic self in them. Instead of a cover photo, it has a cover video where you can add videos about yourself or things that define you the best.

In ‘My Creations’, you can upload the projects that you have worked upon and even sell your creations on the profile within seconds. You just have to upload your stuffs, add a price tag to it and anyone can come to your profile and click on buy to purchase your creations with a hassle-free checkout process.

Apart from My Creations, you can also mention the places you have visited in the ‘My Places’ section which is a mapview with pins on places you’ve been to. In ‘My Inspirations’, you can add a collection of media that inspire you and in ‘My wishes’, you can upload the media which represent your wishes.

When Nikunj was 18, he was passionate about film-making and made some several short films with his friend who is currently his co- founder at mYwindow. He realized that there was no place where creative people could reveal their identities and show their creations to others. So he came up with the idea of mYwindow that shows who you really are and helps you to connect with what really matters to you.

“When I was a filmmaker, I couldn’t really connect with my passion. When I logged on to Facebook, I used to see my friends posting content that wasn’t relevant to me or my passion. If you follow certain people and pages on Facebook, your home would no doubt show useful feeds but some kind of clutter will definitely be present. On such platforms, you are adding people and not content. “added Nikunj.

On Facebook, your Home page is filled with the contents your friends post or share, whereas in mYwindow, it is filled with content you are passionate about. For ex: If you are into Media & Journalism, content related only to this field will be featured on your Home page.

Even if you have followed a person on Twitter, Pinterest, or Facebook because they have a similar passion with you, you start receiving things that are irrelevant to you like their comments on last night’s pizza party or birthday bash. On Facebook, your friends decide what you see, on Twitter your followers decide what you see but on mYwindow, YOU decide what you see.

Nikunj said that mYwindow started accepting invites from Feb 2013. “We’ve been marketing since the last three and a half months and we’ve got close to 32,000 requests. We have been published in a lot of Indian and International platforms that has helped in increasing the exposure of mYwindow. We participate in all the active startup festivals like NASSCOM’s 10,000 startups, UnPluggd etc.”

Finding the right type of talent for the creation of the site was one of the biggest hurdles faced at the initial stage of their entrepreneurial journey. “Being in Nagpur, it was very difficult to find the right kind of talent. But I was really clear about one thing that design is everything. The biggest reason why Pinterest was successful is because of the amazing design it had. No one in Nagpur could design the site the way I had visualized it, so eventually I had to learn designing myself. A consumer social networking site should not perform slowly and have a great infrastructure.”

mYwindow is currently focussing on getting maximum no. of users. Nikunj is writing a book where he points out why it is important to just believe in your idea and launch it rather than dawdling by thinking about the consequences.

In the coming months, they are trying to include an option that helps people to blog from the same place. The team is also looking forward to add a new feature called ‘Family’ where users can connect with their family members and engage in group chats and video calls.

Though, a deluge of social networking sites can be witnessed in the current scenario, there is always room for something that opts for a divergent approach. The internet is certainly an atypical space where things can turn topsy-turvy within a fraction of a second. But the best part of internet based start-ups is that they can always be altered. Only time can tell whether the performance of this startup can manage to supersede other Juggernauts in the battle field!
