Exams don’t test what you know! They test how well you can study the night before the test!

Classrooms are the most boring place to be. Most of the time we keep glancing at our watches wishing for the lecture to end; unless the teacher is really really good. However, not everyone is lucky enough to get a professor that makes even physics interesting. This boring, drab culture of classrooms stray us away from education, scoring well and understanding the subejct. This is what leads us to rely on sources like the internet; but the amount of information available there scares us out of our wits and switch tabs to Facebook instead in the hope of some help from a fellow student.

Some students that have faced similar plights took matters in their hands and came up with websites that specifically cater to our needs. We came across one such unique educational website – Studytonight. It was incepted with the sole idea of making something useful for students, where they get easy lessons to study, watch videos, collected and organized from worldwide sources, join study rooms and discuss their problems with other fellow students.

“I am a Software Engineer, and like any other engineering student; I too worked very hard to keep up with the rapid pace of Software industry’s growth. Learning new skills and programming languages is a necessity. But the big question was, do we get that quality education in our colleges. I was lucky to have some great teachers around me. But unfortunately, there are a lot of students in our country and around the world, who are not that lucky. For them, I created Study tonight, to share my learning with them. When I started studying online, I had a tough time learning. Good stuff is available on the Internet but is scattered. My sole motive for creating Studytonight has been to organize the content to help beginners to find useful stuff at one single place.” Says Abhishek, Founder of Studytonight.

Studytonight

Studytonight, offers a good collection of Video courses from reputed universities around the world, like Harvard, Stanford, IITs etc. They also have lessons covering some important programming lessons. Along with lessons, Studytonight also offers topical tests covering various topics from the lessons, to let students evaluate themselves. It offers students around the world to collaborate and produce more tutorials, along with the author’s name mentioned thereby giving students a platform to publish their work, and help others.

Studytonight is focused on Computer programming subjects. They offer lessons in Core Java, C language, C++, DBMS, Servlet Technology and JSP Technology. They are working on Data Structures right now. In future they plan to include more subjects including high school courses too, like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry etc.

They have courses, Video lessons, Tests at one organized place. They believe in using simple language, pictorial explanations for topics and easy-to-understand examples which help students to absorb the concepts easily.

To clear doubts they have recently launched Studyroom, wherein users can come and ask questions and help each other by answering questions. They are currently focusing on enhancing the quality of existing lessons and test.

“I think the courses have become obsolete and redundant. Most people don’t find the college education sufficient when they are about to step into their professional lives. It is about time the courses are revised (specially engineering) so that the latest tech trends are taught to students.” adds Abhishek when asked about the current education system of India.

Thank you Abhishek and thank you Google for the way studying is changing. It is very important to make learning fun. If only the focus is shifted from mugging pages and pages of useless notes to a more practical approach will more students be interested in education. But alas till then we need to find various ways to make it fun by ourselves and rely on such websites to make it appealing and simple.
