WPBeginner is a free site with an aim of providing useful information like tricks, hacks, tips and other quality resources to help those who are new with WordPress. The site has shown an enormous growth and has been covered by juggernauts like ProBlogger, Mashable, Wired Magazine etc. WPBeginner has given Balkhi an opportunity to travel the United States and work with companies like Thomas Nelson, Social Cast, BuySellAds, Webs Inc, Mercer, CrazyEgg among others. The 21 year old young entrepreneur believes holding ideas and taking time to execute them is inept and instead of dawdling, one should start working on it!

Syed was born in Karachi, Pakistan. When he was 11 years old, his family moved to the United States with the help of his maternal uncle. He has a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology and Religion from University of Florida but has been referred to as a Developer, Internet Marketer, SEO Guy, Social Media Guy, Blogger etc. However he considers himself an entrepreneur.

Entering the United States of America opened the gate of great opportunities for him but was also the hardest time of his life. He had to learn a different language and had no friends. Since he could write English, he started playing games online and turned to a game site called Neopets. While enjoying his time buying and selling virtual objects at Neopets, his cousin’s suggestion that he could earn huge profits by doing the same thing with Domains clicked his entrepreneur mind. As time went by, he started building and designing websites and ran a paid domain name directory.

After moving to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida, he met some likeminded college mates (Amanda Roberts, David Pegg, and Mohammed Karim) and came up with Uzzz Productions in 2006, which ultimately led to the creation of WPBeginner. Syed noticed that he and his team were mostly using and recommending WordPress for the websites they designed.

WPBeginner was started in 2009. Syed found that most sites in the WordPress industry were by developers for developers and the training sites charged the users. Therefore he came up with WPBeginner to offer new users and nontechnical users a step by step guide and resources to improve their websites. All a user needs to do is email or tweet WPBeginner his doubt or post it on the forum. The site has hundreds of thousands of users and it helps them by simply answering their questions and clarifying their doubts.

Syed’s online success and experience has given him an opportunity to speak at various events like WordCamps, BlogWorld Expo, C-E-O National Convention. In 2011, he started another website called List 25 with his friend David Pegg.  List25 within 3 months started receiving 5 million page views per month. Syed advices young bloggers to blog for their passion and not just to earn money. Sticking by excellence will certainly lead to success. Instead of imitating contents and topics from here and there, one should start with something fresh and unique.
