Who doesn’t like a man in a suit; especially someone as handsome as Harvey Specter! That chiseled jaw, slicked hair, triumphant smirk and cocky attitude; women have been swooning over this man from a very long time. But as much as we love him for the good looks, it’s the smart mouth and sharp mind that has roped him a huge fan following.

Harvey Specter is a senior partner from the fictional law firm Pearson Hardman, in the critically acclaimed law drama on the USA Network – Suits. Harvey is not just known for being the best closer in New York City but also for his passion for winning.

Here are some tips to do it Harvey style!

  1. Have a goal!

1

Dreaming is good, we all dream but achieving that dream is far more important. Set a goal; chalk out your plans and go ahead and live that dream not just in your head but in reality!

  1. First impressions

2

The ways you present yourself to anyone make a longing impression on their mind. If you get it right the first time, you have surely got yourself stuck in their mind.

  1. Take risks

3

It’s good to play safe but it’s better to take risks. Do what you have to do. Open your mind, explore your horizons and don’t just stick to playing nice.

  1. Be calm

Suits - Season 3

They say it’s good to be nervous but not when you are out being eaten by the corporate sharks. Take a deep breath and think with a calm mind.

  1. Be responsible

5

So you went ahead and took a risk but that did not work out? Don’t just sit there and cry over spilled milk. Grow up, own up to that responsibility and move on. There is a lot more to achieve yet, it doesn’t end here.

  1. Fix the problem

6

Do not rant about your problems to your girlfriend/boyfriend, mom, dad, best friend, colleague, neighbor or the bartender. Your problem will remain a problem only till you don’t fix it. Solve that problem and quit making it breaking news.

  1. Know your competition

7

In the big bad corporate world, everyone wants to be a step ahead of you, so you simply take another step ahead. Don’t let them know what you are doing but make sure you know what they do.

  1. Do NOT lie

8

When out in the open a lie hurts more than the truth. Don’t jeopardize your career or just anything for a lie. Everyone loves an honest man, no matter how bad the truth.

  1. Have a social life

9

So you think Harvey just struts around New York in that suit looking all high and mighty? Well then you are wrong, you need to look at that record collection in his office, and all the dinners he goes to and the high profile friends. Oh and what do you think he’s always doing on the phone? Personally I think he’s just Instagramming Selfies 😉

    10. Be yourself

10

There is just one Harvey Specter. So the only choice left for you is to be yourself, because no one can be you.

Lastly, never wear a skinny tie to work. Harvey surely comes across as selfish and uncaring but we know he will always protect his own. If you have something to add up to our Harvey list then do comment below; let us know what makes you love Harvey. Also if you haven’t watched suits yet, then do catch up with it not just for entertainment but to learn a thing or two.

Naïve, obedient, traditional, simple and a small town girl Rani has just one thing on her mind these days – her wedding. But what really happens after she is dumped two days before her wedding shattering not just her dreams but even those of her family? This is the story of the critically acclaimed 2014 hit Bollywood movie – Queen. Quintessentially it’s a story of coming of age of a young Delhi girl but a closer look and Queen teaches us many lessons that can be applied to anyone’s life.

  1. Shit happens

queen1-dec22

Life is not all roses and happiness; once in a while a few thorns manage to prick their way in our lives. Nobody’s life is perfect, not even the richest man can swank of an exultant existence. And it is completely ok to be upset about the downs of life; after all we are just human, eh?

After being pursued for four years, Rani’s fiancé broke off their engagement two days prior to the wedding day. What can be worse for an Indian girl who has always only dreamt of her wedding?

  1. Be Strong

queen3

How long are you going to mourn over the so called catastrophe that has wormed itself into your life? Take a few days off, think over the situation you have found yourself in and then fix it! If it is unfixable; then move on.

Rani sulked over her broken engagement for one day and then took matters into her own hands and flew to her honeymoon alone.

  1. Make no plans

queen unplanned

Life has a different theory, the more you plan everything and the more different it all turns out to be. Do not plan everything in life; let some things take their own course. But that doesn’t mean you should have no goal. Know your aims and goals but also let your instinct guide you and not your tailor made plans!

For Rani, life was pretty much chalked out, a degree in Home Science, marriage, kids etc etc. but instead she finds herself with a broken engagement and a solo trip to Paris and Amsterdam amidst strangers!

  1. Self Discovery

discover

You have just stepped into the corporate world, a completely new experience from the close guarded university life. You are what the big sharks will refer to as rookie, someone who can easily be molded in any way they want! Get to yourself before they get to you. Discover yourself, your talents, strengths, weaknesses etc. You will never know what you are good at until you attempt it.

Rani lived a shielded life with her parents, always being chaperoned by either friends or family members. Living in a foreign country all by herself unlocked various doors for her; befriending strangers, cooking and selling food, exploring places and most importantly, surviving alone.

  1. Let go!

kangana

Some people are like anchors that only pull you down. It is time to let go of such people and move on. Letting go isn’t easy and neither is moving on but without some people life is just much better. When it’s time to make the cut, do it. Sometime in life you will be glad you did it.

A majority of the audience was disappointed with the end of the movie; being Indians we pride ourselves upon family values and emotions. But there is more to life than that. Sometimes our life is more worthy than that of others and it is important to distance people that stand as a hindrance.

As time goes by some of us learn to live with the same life; we build a comfort zone among all the tribulations that we are surrounded with. Take a step out of it and discover life, there will be something a lot more interesting waiting there for you. Discover life anew!

Do let us know what you thought of the movie Queen and if you haven’t seen it yet then you are missing out on a brilliant masterpiece.

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. I say the way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach.  We may all not be foodies, but surely enjoy the taste of something amazing cooked especially, if made by someone we adore. But our busy lives barely let us gather the stuff we need to make a mouth watering dish thus succumbing to the spawn of takeaways. While restaurants do serve a variety of finger licking dishes; cooking for anyone is the most special thing a person can do but mostly this luxury is missed on by most of us.  And that’s exactly where Cookfresh has stepped in to offer help.

Cookfresh is India’s first food delivery service that gives you the tools you need to be a gourmet chef at home. They take away the hours of prep work or the hassle of finding a recipe and then shopping for the ingredients. You select a chef-designed recipe and they deliver ready to cook ingredients at your door – from the cut meat and chopped veggies, right down to the essentials such as a teaspoon of cinnamon or a quarter cup of coconut milk. All you do is cook using the recipe card they send you.

Startoholics met up with Raghav Kohli, Co- Founder of Cookfresh, here’s an excerpt from the interview:

Tell us a bit about your background and the path that ultimately led you towards Cookfresh.

As students in college, we would often have house parties where we cooked for our friends and regularly tried new recipes. However, post college, we found less time to ourselves as a result of which we ended up cooking only on weekends. We figured this is a major reason why most people become disenchanted with cooking and decided to do something about it.

The idea at Cookfresh is to make cooking a fun process rather than a headache. We do all the legwork – we choose the recipe and shop for the ingredients, which are then washed, portioned, chopped, labeled and delivered fresh to our customers.

How difficult has the journey been? Any stories you would like to share?

Our biggest challenge has been in differentiating our product from ordering in from a restaurant. We cater to people who are not only foodies, but also find joy in cooking. A Cookfresh box includes everything you need for your meal, right down to the rice and olive oil. All you need are some basic utensils in your kitchen. We’re not competing with restaurants and believe that ours is a distinct market. We’ve created a product that enables people to use their hands and gives them a greater stake in what they eat.

cookfresh 1

What are the key milestones for the next 6 – 12 months?

We launched Cookfresh with 18 recipes and are now in the process of revamping our menu. In the near future, we plan to introduce a salads and desserts section. Eventually, we will also be introducing a subscription model wherein a customer will receive 3 boxes on a weekly basis with new recipes each week.

Has Cookfresh got the feedback and growth you expected since launch?

We launched Cookfresh in February and the response so far has been fantastic! We’ve received dozens of calls from people to congratulate us and wish us luck, which in itself is very encouraging. We’re currently delivering an average of 10 boxes a day and that number shoots up during weekends.

Which recipes are your favorites? Have you tried making them?

Yes, we’ve cooked all of them and have enjoyed eating them all. My own favourites are the Penang Fish Curry and the Penne Alla Vodka. All of our recipes are meticulously designed by our chef, Darshana Baruah, who is also our mentor and a guiding light for Cookfresh.

Currently, Delhi and Gurgaon are your delivery areas. Is expansion on the list?

Yes, we’re currently delivering only in South Delhi and Gurgaon. We’re looking to cover all of Delhi NCR in 6 months, post which we will begin expanding to other cities and hope to have a presence across the country in 2 years.

Lastly, one piece of advice to our budding startup entrepreneurs.

Take the plunge and you’ll figure it out along the way. The more you think, the more likely you are to find an excuse not to do it.

We are too lazy, busy or least bothered about cooking up something special for ourselves or the lovely people around us because a trip to the grocery store is the least interesting thing to do. Cookfresh is here to remedy that for us. Select a mouth watering recipe with the click of a button and have all the ingredients hand delivered to you. Could life get easier?

Do like and share this article with all food lovers and those passionate about cooking, who knows you might get treated to scrumptious meal 😉

One evening, two CEOs met at a business meeting – one from India’s most coveted Hindi General Entertainment Channel and the other from a leading Indian communications agency. As they spoke, the conversation veered towards CEOs and how their lives revolve around work and meetings. And thus, began a round of discussions between different stakeholders as the thought germinated into something much more powerful. That moment marked the birth of CEO’s Got Talent—a brainchild of Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors and Prema Sagar, Principal and Founder, Genesis Burson-Marsteller and Founder Trustee, Genesis Foundation.

Genesis Foundation has always looked at newer avenues to engage with audiences across the country. CEO’s Got Talent was a first-of-its-kind event platform created by franchise owner FremantleMedia India under the ‘Got Talent’ franchise, proceeds of which went to Genesis Foundation. 12 senior leaders of India Inc. battled it out on a fun-filled evening showcasing their talent. The show was judged by a distinguished panel of jury members, including renowned actor Raveena Tandon, celebrated director-producer Mahesh Bhatt and Raj Nayak, CEO – COLORS. The on-ground event took place on the 7th of March in Mumbai and was broadcasted on CNBC TV18 on 29th and 30th March 2014.

The winners of the show were, Mr. Atul Khatri, CEO of Kaytek Computers, first runner up Mr. PankajChaturvedi, CEO of Rich Graviss Products Pvt. And second runner up Mr. David Fischer, current Chairman of Xlantic Group. Here’s what each one had to say about their experience of being on the show.

Atul Khatri, CEO of Kaytek Computers

Passion: Standup comedy

“I’d wish I knew that CEO stands for Chief Everything Officer in a small business which I run. You are ‘ALWAYS ON’ 365 x 24 x 7 to your customers, employees & the countless tax authorities. The pressure and responsibility of not only the employees but their families too on you is overwhelming. We live one life. Go explore your passion before it’s too late. In fact it’s never too late. You want to become a body painter, a pole dancer, open your own VadaPav stall or even get out of your car on Ganesh Visarjan day and do a full tapori dance performance  with some random people on the street  – Go ahead and do it! Never regret later on that you couldn’t do it because you will only have yourself to blame. Finally will like to end on a filmy dialogue –  Kehte hai agar kissi cheez ko dil se chaaho toh poori kainat tumhe use milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.”

Pankaj Chaturvedi: CEO of Rich Graviss Products Pvt. Ltd.

Passion: Singing

The singing sensation was quoted saying; “I always wish to respect the gift of melody that I have been bequeathed with. There have been times when giving sufficient time to singing has been difficult, but I never thought of giving up my dream.  As I said, our dreams are what describe us as a person. It is very important to follow our heart and pay reverence to our talent. Keep your goals clear and just follow the path that you think will lead towards them.”

David Fischer:Current Chairman of Xlantic Group

Passion: Rock Music

The second runner up at the CEO’s Got Talent shared a few words of wisdom “Remember to try to create the time for at least one hobby outside your main business. Most CEOs are workaholics, and I suffer from the same addiction.  So if you can harness that drive and apply it to an area of interest outside of work, do so.  Also, more importantly, if you can use your talent to help causes that you believe in, it will give you a greater sense of satisfaction and open your mind in a way that complements your business activity.”

Take a look at some of the pictures from the show.

The realm of education has majorly shifted its focus on the World Wide Web; everything is now easily accessible on the internet, right from school learning courses to diplomas and masters’. While every field is focussing on the internet, how could the IT Sector be left behind? The information is certainly available on search engines, but the touch an expert gives is left behind. In conversation with Team Startoholics is Shadab Nawaz, Ceo, Wingnity.com

Shadab Nawaz

Shadab Nawaz

Tell us a bit about your background and the path that ultimately led you towards Wingnity.com

I have had a strong desire heading an IT firm right from my youth. To pursue my plan further, I joined MSc in computer science. It was during the final year of my study that I slowly started planning on the same that ultimately led to the opening of Magicsolv, my parent company which deals with services such as web development, auction business, eCom etc.

The idea to open Wingnity.com stemmed in August 2013 from some friendly encounter with my known surroundings eager to learn specific technologies like MySQL, Java and so on. I started myself offering the training online using video conferencing tool. With the course of time, the number of heads started increasing and this led to opening of Wingnity.

What are the key milestones for the next 6 – 12 months?

Our website Wingnity.com is getting revamped and we are trying to come up with a new look and function, to enable more user-experience browsing the site. In addition, we have also considered adding another two new modules: An interactive quiz system and a discussion forum (an open platform for all).

What is the biggest hurdle you have faced or are still facing?

The biggest hurdle I have faced so far or still facing at times is in regard to quality employees and retaining them in the long run. However, as of now we have minimized that scenario to a decent extent by adhering to new policies that facilitate proper growth of an employee in our organization. Moreover, the location at times also becomes an issue since many professionals do not tend to acquire jobs besides metropolitan cities.

Have you got the feedback and growth expected since launch?

Yes, we’ve got a warm response from people. Right from our inception on August 2013, we have attained 2,000+ registered users and 325 paid candidates for training.

wingnity 1

Do you have any new features in the pipeline?

Our organization is always in the mode of evolving, disseminating new ideas, to incorporate in our existing structure. However, our agenda, as stated in the 3rd question is the current list of features we are looking for to attain.

If not for Wingnity.com, where would you be now?

If the idea to open Wingnity is not thought upon, I would have been running my own IT organization, Magicsolv International.

Who inspires you the most?

An honest business with positive vibration inspires me the most.

What one piece of advice would you give to soon to be startup founders?

Do prepare your agenda and also perform a solid spadework before you jump for the real action.

Thank You Shadab.

Wingnity aims at providing the best accessible education to people all over the world. They wish to impart better learning with new methods as opposed to traditional classrooms. Do you think new methods will be able to overthrow traditional classrooms and make learning fun for people? Do comment below and share your views with us! 🙂

We all love receiving gifts, be it Christmas, birthdays, or just any occasion. But what makes a few people cringe from accepting presents is the useless vase or the hideous sweater or the book they would never read.  We all have an imaginary wish list tucked somewhere in the corner of our minds that contains all the things we wish to receive as gifts but do we ever pen that list down? Nah! We never do. The perfect solution to this is WishBooklet.

WishBooklet is an easy way to share the gifts you want to receive from your friends and family and get them to pitch in money towards the gifts. Think of it as kick starter for gifts. On WishBooklet you can easily add items from any online store to your wish list, share this list online, and crowd fund gifts with your friends and family. On WishBooklet you get what you really want and nobody has to pay a ton of money to get it for you.  Facing the same problems of gifting, Eric Santos and Erik Montes hatched the idea of WishBooklet.

Founders

Here’s an excerpt from our rendezvous with Eric.

Tell us a bit about your background and the path that ultimately led you towards WishBooklet

I come from an entrepreneurial background. I studied entrepreneurship in college and started my first tech company in my senior year during the program. WishBooklet is actually my third startup. My friend Erik originally came up with the concept for WishBooklet during a hackathon. He pretty much built the whole app during this hackathon but put it on the backburner afterwards. I eventually teamed up with him to bring WishBooklet to the masses.

What are the key milestones for the next 6 – 12 months?

Raise a seed round, finish mobile and grow ridiculously fast! 😉

What is the biggest hurdle you have faced or are still facing?

Educating our users about how crowd funding works. We’ve been creating and putting out a lot more crowd funding content to help with this.

Has your platform got the feedback and growth you expected since launch?

Feedback and growth has been great. We’ve been received well in the media and have been featured on Mashable, Examiner, ABC30, Tech Cocktail and other publications. Of course we’d love to be growing faster, but we are happy with our current pace.

wishbooklet

Do you have any new features in the pipeline?

It’s not a feature, but we’re working on a really cool API that we will be offering to e-commerce sites. Can’t get into the details too much yet, but it’s going to be really cool.

If not for WishBooklet, where would you be now?

I’m an entrepreneur by heart, so I would probably be working on some other venture.

What is one startup that has recently caught your interest?

I’ve recently become a big fan of Uber. They’re making big waves for sure.

Who inspires you the most?

Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Drake “Drizzy” Rodgers.

What one piece of advice would you give to soon to be startup founders?

Dream big, start small.  We all have big romantic ideas that will change the world but always start with servicing a targetable market.

Thanks Eric!

WishBooklet is an easy way to share gifts from any online store with your friends and family and let them to pitch in to get them for you. Finally, here’s your chance to hint your friends on those shoes you have wanted to get for ages! Do check out Wishbooklet and let us know if your wishes did come true! 🙂
