Officially launched in September 2012, Snaplion is a powerful online platform that creates beautiful, rich media mobile applications – quickly, easily and inexpensively. It is a functional, custom iPhone/Android app and by subscribing to this cloud-based app building platform, anyone from large brands to small scale entrepreneurs or individual publishers can bring life to their vision of having their own iPhone and Android app. The custom mobile apps that Snaplion builds fully conform and give the much needed thrust to their target community engagement and image building objectives.

It all began when Tapan was looking to get an app built for his music band ‘Midival Punditz’, Indi-electro pioneers. To his dismay, he discovered that getting an app built for musicians was cumbersome, expensive, time consuming and technically challenging as the process had to be fairly specific with the requirements of a music band – with a fan following and tour schedules. Considering the dilemma faced by musicians, artists or anyone to leverage technology to promote their craft digitally or connect with niche community, Tapan reached out to Rohan and Nikhil. They then figured out the huge raft of business opportunities available and decided to build a platform to enable anyone to build apps quickly, easily and inexpensively. 

About The Team…

A group of Appholics, Tech Geeks, Social Butterflies and Creative Visionaries, all combined into one fun-loving, dynamic team. They all share a passion of building beautiful mobile apps laced with rich media and social features so as to give wings to anyone, who aspires to connect, mingle and engage with their target communities in real time.

On Target Audience:

The system is designed to be easy to use.  The rule of thumb that is followed in their UX development is that if one can use Facebook, then one should be able to get on their platform and build an app for themselves.  Creating an app on this platform mostly involves uploading images, videos, music, theming app colours and graphics and entering details about menu, loyalty contact info etc.  It’s that simple!

Snaplion is a subscription, software as a service (SAAS) business.  Pricing depends on vertical and size: 

• Hotels / Restaurants / Cafes – $99/month for first location + $40/month per additional location
• Night Clubs / Bars – $99/month for first location + $40/month per additional location
• Spas / Salons – $99/month for first location + $40/month per additional location
• Bands / Artists / DJs – $35
• Photographers / Actors / Writers – $35
• Clubs / Groups / Fraternities – $99

They have partnered with leading social media companies such as Ascension Delhi and affiliates like Bezire, Hyderabad and Vox 360 to feature Snaplion’s offerings to their clients.

A Ripple in the Ocean…

Even though Snaplion is disrupting the traditional app development economy where taking an app live could cost more than Rs. 10 lakh, take 3 to 4 long months and require high engagement from the app owner, their  solution costs Rs. 5000 per month, takes less than an hour and is super easy to execute.

Snaplion is partnering with many professional app developers to further customize and take it’s apps to a new level.  With Snaplion, professional app developers can start with a great foundation and add custom features to client apps. Startoholics had the opportunity to chat up with this successful startup, here’s a short sneak peek of Dotmach.

To anyone who has never come across Dotmach, how would you describe it?

Dotmach is a Cloud based Work Management Application, it helps teams to work together better by improving the way people communicate, collaborate and share contents to have a great & structured data at workplace and get great things done.

What motivated this Startup?

The frustration you feel while switching from one application to another application to manage a proper workflow is agitating. Of course, a lot of companies are in the same market, yet none could build a perfect solution. People are still looking for a good work management tool which is simple and yet powerful to manage a structured and organized work flow.

How do you differentiate from your competitors?

First of all speed, simplicity, a better and structured workflow – With these criteria in mind we built Dotmach ground up. And another thing is, if you are using Dotmach, then you don’t need to use multiple applications for Enterprise Social Network, Collaborative Platform, Project Management, Content Sharing and Management etc. We bring all this into a single hub in a simple and easy way. Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success.

Who do you see as your target audience?

We are Concentrating on Startups, Small and Medium Scale companies now.

Has Dotmach got the feedback and growth you expected since launch?

We launched Dotmach 3 weeks back, the traction and feedback we are getting now is positive. So Yes, Dotmach is trying to keep up with our expectation.

How involved are you with fundraising?

We are completely bootstrapped till now and until we reach a certain traction, we would like to keep it in that way.

How do you plan to monetize Dotmach?

We follow a SaaS based distribution model. So Dotmach’s revenue is from paid subscription.

Have you had any failures and what did you learn from them?

This is not my first startup, I failed multiple times. And Yes Of Course I learned a lot from them. My favourite lesson was “Passion Never Fails”

What are you most excited about at the moment?

At this moment I am really excited by the feedback we are getting for Dotmach from my happy customer base, it does suggest that Dotmach is really on its hunt to abolish the frustration of using multiple applications to manage team workflow.

What more do you wish to include to take Dotmach the next level?

Our main focus is to keep it simple. In the next 2 to 3 months, we are  planning to launch Mobile Apps and also improve the communication part of Dotmach better by adding Audio, Video Support.

Where do you see Dotmach after 5 years?

We’ve only started to scratch the surface and we have a long journey ahead. I would like to see Dotmach as a well reputed and reliable application which can solve all the enterprise issues even inside an MNC.
