With the motto of making the world a better environment to live for, Healthy World has brought in Indian Market the one step solution for any issue pertinent to health, health products, wellness services & corporate wellness. Healthy World has the social mission to make wellness a mainstream thinking and it performs the dual role of giving detailed information on either any disease, or nutrient deficiency or anything around health – and recommending solutions as well.
Healthy World has Puru Gupta (CEO and Co- founder) and Sreejith Moolayil (COO and Co- founder), the two first generation entrepreneurs as its two pillars to stand tall. Puru, coming from an MBA background from FMS, Delhi and Sreejith, coming from HR and Law background, both of them have had more than 10 years of corporate experience spanning across multinationals like P&G, Cognizant, CSC, Tata Motors, and TVS Delphi etc. Apart from the similarity they share in terms of corporate experience there is something else that they were both interested in. Puru and Sreejith wanted to work on consumer health. The personal tragedies at home motivated them to get diagnosis and preventive health care at the forefront of consumer mind spaces.
The journey of Healthy World started from Delhi with the intention of owning the entire supply chain of health products. But as soon as they realized their strength of building customer relationships they placed their footsteps on the E-commerce platform. Searching for the brands that were genuinely unique and had a key health benefit, and also building a supply chain happened to be the company’s primary focus. Simultaneously, they also started with the Corporate Wellness partnership with organizations in which they had to plan and execute activities that entailed higher employee engagement. It is the need of local presence for corporate partners and also building a supply chain for local vendors that led these two masterminds to launch Healthy World in Mumbai and Pune in July 2012.
At present the company is actively looking for funding to perform betterment. This one stop wellness and health problems solution has a huge variety when it comes to the products offered by it. You can expect to get a range of more than 8000 products, there is something for every customer on this platform!
However no business is a cake walk. It has to go through some odds and bumps but the success lies in the way how these hurdles are dodged and overcome. And certainly the course of Healthy World’s journey proved to be bumpier than what Puru and Srijeeth and other people associated with this initiative imagined it to be. Each time opening a new location seemed like starting a new business altogether. Moreover, experimenting with the new channels having a fresh start and a different perspective happened to be a tough job. The small size of the team dawned onto them as a strong hurdle to cross as even after each person performing multi-tasking; it did lead to a slower start.
But to get customers from offline to online has been their biggest hurdle so far. The fact that people still compartmentalize this very concept of the entity based on the engagement and activities performed by them, it gets very difficult to explain to the customer that the company offers both products and services. It is not a mere e-commerce company like thousands of others with whom you can negotiate for discounts.
Over the past 6 months, however, due to integrated focus both on disease management and customer acquisition, the company has seen good traction, both in consumer as well as corporate space. The corporate partners, having seen the company’s wellness programs, are more open to ideas, and partner with them in designing their wellness activities..
Inspiration is one of the many integrated factors that influence a business. For the founders of Healthy World, VCCircle and their news have been the inspirational catalyst. Puru and Srijeeth, on the way of their journey with Healthy World have met end number of start-ups, and they realized the even though “the meetings” bring challenges along with them but there is still a lot of fun and experience which is beyond any regret in their lives.
In the future, Healthy World wants to drive in a path that leads to a complete health solution for every family – including various types of wellness services (dental checkups, yoga, spa, dance therapies, hair treatments, etc.) as well as drive a strong CRM to help customers. They want to make sure that they have a robust technology platform that will enable them to scale up efficiently and effectively
The ultimate advice given out by the Healthy World creators is that key to business lies in the execution of the idea and not just the idea. For them the devil is in the details. “Getting enamoured by the idea itself and not caring much about the execution, the back-up options and the potential risks that need to be handled is certainly a Do Not.” added Puru and Sreejith.
