“Everything I learned I learned from the movies.”
Escape. We all need an escape from the daily drama of life. College, school, work, home etc. there are a lot of places we need to escape from once in a while. We all deserve some ‘Me’ time in life. That time where you can rejuvenate your senses and do what you like the most. Each person has their own stress buster; it could be reading, music, games or movies! That’s where Rinema comes to play.
The online world offers much help when one is looking for some movie to watch. You can easily download movies, read reviews and pick a movie you like. But the main issue here is the name of the movie! You can’t go around reading reviews of 100 different movies before you settle on one.
Movie buffs usually rely on recommendations made by other movie buffs like them. Rinema helps you connect with people that have the same taste as you in movies and lets you discover, share and recommend movies! Startoholics connected with Grishma Udani, Founder of Rinema for a rendezvous.
To anyone who’s never come across Rinema, how would you describe it?
As our tagline, “Your Movies & the Next” puts it, Rinema helps you keep track of movies that you watch and discover new ones you would like to watch. We have a slightly different approach to discovery though, we believe best recommendations are from people who share your tastes in cinema so, and we help you find these taste buddies. You can then follow them or directly find interesting movies from their collections.
Tell us a bit about your background and the path that ultimately led you towards Rinema.
I graduated from IIT Kanpur and was the co-founder & CEO of another startup called Whirlybird Electronics. But I’m fond of cinema; I watch all kinds of movies: Hollywood, Bollywood, art, documentaries & more. Also, I have been a long time good reads user and every time I logged on to good reads, I wished something similar existed for film. And, after years of searching, I finally decided to build one myself.
How extensive is the market that the Rinema is working in? And who are the competitors?
