The online world offers much help when one is looking for some movie to watch. You can easily download movies, read reviews and pick a movie you like. But the main issue here is the name of the movie! You can’t go around reading reviews of 100 different movies before you settle on one.

To anyone who’s never come across Rinema, how would you describe it?
As our tagline, “Your Movies & the Next” puts it, Rinema helps you keep track of movies that you watch and discover new ones you would like to watch. We have a slightly different approach to discovery though, we believe best recommendations are from people who share your tastes in cinema so, and we help you find these taste buddies. You can then follow them or directly find interesting movies from their collections.
Tell us a bit about your background and the path that ultimately led you towards Rinema.
I graduated from IIT Kanpur and was the co-founder & CEO of another startup called Whirlybird Electronics. But I’m fond of cinema; I watch all kinds of movies: Hollywood, Bollywood, art, documentaries & more. Also, I have been a long time good reads user and every time I logged on to good reads, I wished something similar existed for film. And, after years of searching, I finally decided to build one myself.
How extensive is the market that the Rinema is working in? And who are the competitors?
Our target audience is film buffs across the world so, it’s pretty huge. In the US alone, more than 220 million watch movies so, worldwide is much much more.
Our Direct competitors are Letterboxd, icheckmovies, goodfil.ms and Indirect competitors are imdb.com, rotten tomatoes to name a few.

What are the key milestones for the next 6 – 12 months?
Perfecting the product, ensuring performance & growing faster & faster 😉
What are your plans for promoting Rinema?
We are primarily a social platform, so the key focus is always on building virality into the platform. Already for instance, most of our regular users have invited their significant other and close friends to the site. So, it’s more about building a product which users love.
What is the biggest hurdle you have faced or are still facing?
When I decided to start working on Rinema, I knew almost nothing about web design & development. So I had to spend months learning the stuff.
Where do you see Rinema after 5 years?
In 5 years, we aim to become the go-to site for all film buffs, located anywhere in the world, to pick their next watch.
What one piece of advice would you give to soon to be startup founders?
